The Book of Changes
All 64 I Ching Hexagrams
A hexagram is a figure made from six yin or yang lines, arranged from the bottom upward. The I Ching contains 64 possible hexagrams because each line has two basic states and six positions produce 64 distinct combinations. Each figure joins a lower and an upper trigram, creating a particular structure and image through which to consider change.
During a reading, old yin and old yang are changing lines. Turning those lines into their opposites produces a relating hexagram, adding movement and context to the primary figure. This guide lets you find a cast by number or browse the full King Wen sequence. Detailed interpretation pages are now available for all 64 Hexagrams.
If you do not have a hexagram yet, cast a free I Ching reading online with six virtual three-coin tosses.
